Project Manager

About the role

The project manager oversees the delivery of new and existing projects, working closely with the technical implementing teams and planning and monitoring project activities linked to conservation of local woodland, widening access, improving visitor experience and increasing engagement through interpretation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining key stakeholder relationships; attending meetings in person and online
  • Engaging with community based organisations to set up public consultations and focus groups
  • Writing and tracking budgets
  • Monitoring and evaluating project activities against targets
  • Writing project progress reports for head office staff
  • Reporting to funding partners, following approved format and timescales
  • Identifying and managing risk to ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget
  • Supporting the team to deliver large impact activities under the theme of woodland conservation, including specialist surveys and woodland habitat walks
  • Overseeing staff coordinating marketing, PR and media coverage 
  • Event management; organising launch or celebration events
  • Line managing a team of 2 project staff
  • Identifying and delegating tasks to appropriate team members

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Project management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2
  • Demonstrable experience of developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating projects
  • Line management experience, including the ability to train, lead and motivate a team 
  • Experience of liaising, reporting and securing ongoing funding
  • An awareness of equality and diversity, health and safety and safeguarding
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Self-motivated, proactive and organised
  • A commitment to our mission to ensure that everyone has access to woodland walks
  • Desirable
  • In-depth knowledge and practical skills in woodland conservation
  • Experience of public speaking and presentations
  • Effective use of social media for sharing project progress

Salary

Salary range for Project Manager working from head office, depending on qualifications and experience £29,000 - £36,000.

Additional information

Regular day visits to woodland sites for monitoring and evaluation.
