Programme Development Officer

About the role

Liaising with technical staff and the programme manager, the development officer will seek opportunities to find new funding, establish new partnerships and open new operational bases in additional countries, building on the success of our existing work.

Responsibilities

• Using a variety of tools to assess project impact
• Using qualitative and quantitative data to present results
• Beneficiary accountability; implementing new approaches to ensure that communities can raise their concerns
• Project quality assurance and encouraging sharing of good practice
• Providing funding opportunity update reports at global staff conferences
• Taking minutes and sending out action points following quarterly meetings
• Writing blogs and articles to raise the organisation’s profile with potential donors
• Liaising with country teams to share information and gather compelling case studies for funding applications
• Attend networking events to build relationships with potential new donors
• Facilitating a high level of media coverage around the launch of new projects, working with the marketing team to showcase projects on facebook, twitter and Instagram

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position for a global NGO
• A degree level qualification
• Advanced knowledge of women’s rights issues and policies
• Knowledge of the project cycle
• Experience in research and needs assessment surveys
• Proficient in compiling large institutional funding proposals including UKAid, UN Foundation, Ford Foundation
• Strong intercultural skills, ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
• A commitment to our mission to ensure that women and girls have equal access to education and jobs
• Desirable
• An understanding of policy debates around women’s rights
• Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, assessment and learning (MEAL) tools

Salary

Salary range for Programme Development Officer, depending on qualifications and experience £25,000 - £29,000.

Additional information

Regular overseas travel, including to high-risk areas with basic living conditions.
