Monitoring, evaluation, assessment and learning (MEAL) coordinator

About the role

This new position provides an additional layer of research and transparency for our programmes. Making regular visits to field sites to gather data, evaluating programme impact and providing recommendations for learnings, this is an important role for increasing performance and accountability in line with humanitarian best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, analysing and reporting on surveys relating to operational activities
  • Support the continued development of monitoring and evaluation tools and processes 
  • Ensure all activities support the Accountability and Learning strategy
  • Use an evidenced based approach to produce recommendations for change 
  • Contribute to Monitoring and Evaluation Plans and Terms of Reference
  • Sharing monitoring and evaluation information and findings with team members and external stakeholders
  • Supervise survey team members (staff and volunteers) carrying out monitoring and evaluation activities, both in country and remotely.
  • Deliver training and develop resources to support staff, volunteers and partners in undertaking monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Keep up-to-date with sector techniques and trends, providing advice and guidance on processes, methods and best practice in MEAL

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in international development or similar
  • Strong technical knowledge of M&E theory, MEAL systems and processes.
  • Experience in planning and managing surveys, 
  • Experience in developing data collection tools including KoBo Toolbox
  • An interest in qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis
  • Interpersonal skills to work with operational teams and partner organisations throughout humanitarian responses
  • Ability to work independently for long periods
  • Desirable
  • Experience of public speaking and data presentations
  • Experience of working within an international organisation.

Salary

Salary range for MEAL coordinator, depending on qualifications and experience £26,000 - £34,000.

Additional information

Multiple 3 week monitoring visits overseas will be required (up to 100 days travel per year).
